Tajikistan’s flag, which was adopted in 1992, is made up of three horizontal stripes. The top (red, independence) and bottom (green, agriculture) stripes are of equal size, while the middle stripe (white, purity) is twice the size of the others. Centered in the middle of the white stripe is a yellow/gold crown with seven five-point stars arching over its top. This emblem is intended to symbolize Tajik sovereignty, the union of workers, and the unity of Tajikistan's social classes.
